Trio bids for £130m Worcs roads deal
Contractors are in the hunt for a Worcestershire roads maintenance
deal that could net the winner almost £130m-worth of
work.
Carillion, Ringway and Colas are understood to be among those
challenging Raynesway, the present incumbent, for the county
council's project.
The challengers' submissions will be assessed on quality and cost,
but not necessarily in that order of priority.
The scheme is valued at £15m a year and will initially run for
four and a half years. But depending on how the victorious
contractor performs over this period, there is an option to extend
by a further period of four years.
The council expects to award the scheme next April, with work on
site scheduled to start on 1 October 2005.
