Lafarge buys Riskend readymix division

Lafarge has bought the readymix business of Scottish materials firm Riskend Aggregates.
A company spokesman told CJ: "It's definitely an expansion for Lafarge Aggregates, and it's the first time the company has moved into the Scottish market."
The Riskend readymix business last year had a turnover of £3.5m and occupies four plants in Glasgow. Lafarge said another site is about to be opened in Edinburgh.
The new company, Lafarge Riskend Readymix, will be run locally from Glasgow. The spokesman declined to comment on whether Lafarge is planning further Scottish acquisitions.
