CITB-ConstructionSkills is on the case
CITB-ConstructionSkills operations director Howard Maylard said:
"The construction industry is aware of many of the key themes
raised in the report and actions are being taken to address them.
"The lower framework completion rates for apprenticeships relate to
apprenticeships started in the period 2001/02, which is when key
skills tests were introduced. It should be pointed out, however,
that NVQ completion rates are double that of frameworks," added
Maylard.
"The On-Site Assessment and Training route has an excellent
electronic profiling system that highlights strengths and
weaknesses in all aspects of NVQ knowledge. The recently created
CITB-ConstructionSkills and the British Association of Construction
Heads 'senate' will help to address some of the issues raised in
the report. We are confident that the next report will show further
improvements."
