Briggs & Forrester merges M&E units
Briggs & Forrester, the £100m-a-year turnover building
services contractor, has merged its mechanical services and
electrical services divisions.
The new division, known as engineering services, will have a
combined turnover of £55m.
Managing director Dan Cleasby said: "More customers ask for a
combined mechanical and electrical bid.
"By merging our M&E businesses we ensure that one party
controls and co-ordinates all the services and our customers have a
single point of contact. This makes projects simpler.
"Until now, when managing a project, we have had a lead mechanical
and a lead electrical project manager on each job with both
attending site meetings. Now we will appoint a lead project manager
who will be responsible for both," Cleasby said.
"The two have been operating as stand-alone companies, both needing
to show a profit. Each did its own thing in terms of procurement.
We see a benefit in combining buying power to negotiate a far
better deal."
