Bell has sold its first two branded excavators in the UK, a 14t and a 21t machine.
The South African ADT manufacturer currently has 16 of the South Korean made excavators in stock as well as a UK demonstration fleet of five machines (14t, 2 x 21t, 30t and 45t units).
According to Bob Aldridge, Bell’s sales and marketing manager, companies in Essex and the West Midlands have bought the initial units and negotiations are still on-going with a strong possibility they will both take more machines.
The 45t machine from Bell’s demonstration fleet is also likely to be sold to a firm in County Durham.
Aldridge stressed the machines are all going to different owners spread across the country and the Bell reputation for reliable product and good after sales support would lead to more sales in the near future.
“We have an excellent name in the UK market place,” he said. “As we’re not going in on price we are marketing the machines on our service reputation.”
Bell is aiming to sell at least 100 excavators in 2005, and is targeting a 10% UK market share within two years.
