Utilities agree to share info
A central organisation to champion sharing information between utilities operators could be up and running next year.
The Geospatial Engineering Board and Institution of Civil Engineers have accepted that companies need to work towards a standardisation regarding sharing information.
At a meeting last week it was agreed that utilities have to achieve a common goal for new works within three years and central government funding is necessary to establish standardisation of recorded data.
A report, due out in January, will highlight the business benefits for change and set out proposals for a pilot scheme to create a standard among different companies.
