Bell has sold its first two branded excavators in the UK, a 14t and
a 21t machine.
The South African ADT manufacturer currently has 16 of the South
Korean excavators in stock as well as a UK demonstration fleet of
five machines (a 14t, 30t and 45t and two 21t units).
Bob Aldridge, Bell's sales and marketing manager, said companies in
Essex and the West Midlands have bought the initial units and
negotiations are on-going with the possibility they will both take
more machines.
The 45t machine from Bell's demonstration fleet is also likely to
be sold to a firm in County Durham. Aldridge stressed the machines
were going to different owners across the country and the Bell
reputation for reliable products and good after sales support would
lead to more sales.
"We have an excellent name in the UK marketplace," he said. "As
we're not going in on price, we are marketing the machines on our
service reputation."
Bell is aiming to sell at least 100 excavators in 2005, and is
targeting a 10% UK market share within two years.
