Fast risers take market share

Brandon Hire and GAP are among the 108 UK plant hire firms that have increased sales by more than three times the national average during the past year.
Averaging 28% annual growth, these companies are changing the face of the UK plant hire industry, according to the latest report from Plimsoll Publishing. As overall growth of the UK industry is marginal, these fastest risers are said to be succeeding at the expense of the competition.
To qualify as a fastest riser in the report, a company must have increased sales in each of the past two years; and increased sales by more than 14% in the past year.
The report also lists 111 companies described as the fastest falling. These firms are said to have seen their sales decline during the past two years, with one suffering a 77% decrease.
According to the Plimsoll report, some of the industry's major players are in the fastest falling category, with 32 of them still maintaining annual sales of more than £5m.
