Government mulls prequal criteria
The government is considering proposals for core criteria for
public sector prequalification.
The proposals have been put to the Prime Minister's policy advisor
Geoffrey Norris by the Specialist Engineering Contractors' (SEC)
Group.
SEC Group chief executive Rudi Klein told CJ: "The industry would
like mandatory core criteria to be used by all prequalification
database suppliers.
"No prequalification scheme at the moment differentiates between
the good and bad performers on issues such as payment, financial
stability and health and safety."
The government is expected to make its decision on the proposals in
the new year.
