VHE wins £12.4m Welsh remediation deal

VHE Construction, the brownfield remediation division of Montpellier, has been appointed by the Welsh Development Agency for the £12.4m remediation at the former Phurnacite smokeless fuel plant at Abercwmboi in the Cynon Valley near Aberdare, south Wales.

The contract comprises the removal of approximately 122,000t of waste tar and contaminated soil and replacement with clean material. Disposal works are due to be completed by july, with overall completion set for September.
