The Highways Agency (HA) is to extend Mouchel Parkman’s existing five-year commission to manage the Area 5 (M25 sphere) network by a further 12 months, taking it to August 2007.
Under the commission, first awarded in May 2001, Mouchel Parkman is responsible for providing or managing: route steward service (to attend all significant incidents, monitor traffic conditions and the state of the network); traffic management; and general maintenance for highways, footways, cycleways, bridges, lighting, verges and landscapes.
Other areas it delivers are: winter salting and snow clearance; highway improvement and safety measures; technical surveys; approving abnormal load movements; and liaising with police, local authorities, statutory undertakers and the public.
The extension to the commission is worth more than £11m to Mouchel Parkman in fees.
