Carillion wins £45m deal to build three Asda superstores

Carillion has won three contracts to build new Asda superstores - with a total value of over £45m.

The deal is for stores in Lowestoft, Milton Keynes and Cannock.

The £14.5m Lowestoft project includes the demolition of an existing shipyard, the formation of a new perimeter sea wall and construction of an Asda store and separate retail units. The site, which partially extends into the existing harbour, will require 490m of new steel piled perimeter sea wall with site levels lifted for future flood conditions.
The scheme includes parking for 600 cars and is scheduled for completion in November 2005.

The £19m Milton Keynes project will be an Asda Wal-Mart supercentre with an area of approximately 14,000m2 and 800 parking spaces. The store is in the centre of Milton Keynes adjacent to the new MK Dons football stadium. Work starts at the end of this month.
