Kier Eastern wins £14m development contract

Ashwell Property Group has appointed Kier Eastern, part of the Kier building and engineering group, as main contractor for its Greenways neighbourhood district centre in Ipswich, under a contract worth £14m.
The development in Ravenwood is the first under Ashwell Property Group’s Greenways programme, an initiative aimed at developing new district/neighbourhood centres across the East of England.
The Greenways scheme will provide a neighbourhood centre incorporating residential apartments, retail units, community centre, new nursery school and sports pavilion, with adjacent playing area and over 200 car parking spaces. Discussions are ongoing for a possible healthcare facility and clinic.
Work will start in May on building more than 100 town houses and apartments, ranging from one to three bedrooms.
The entire project is due to be ready next spring.
