HIGHWAY INVESTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE FOOTWAY REINSTATEMENT PROGRAMME

The Council seeks expressions of interest from
suitably qualified and experienced contractors
wishing to be considered for inclusion in a
tender list for the above works.
The estimated value of the works is up to £600,000.
The appointed contractor will work alongside the
Council's construction and works departments as
well as the Council's machine laid surfacing
partner to bring along innovation and best
practice. Ensuring value for money in the
delivery of the Council Corporate Plan is an
essential element in this programme so a right
first time approach is essential.
The works entail various highway maintenance

schemes across the borough which will call upon a
range of civil engineering skills often in
restricted urban environments. A key to this
successful partnership is the need for the
appointed contractor to tailor operations to work
in sensitive areas with continual access by
members of the public as well as fully meeting
the requirements of the various statutory
authorities. This list is not exhaustive and will
be amplifed further in the more detailed
appraisal.
Tenders addressing the comprehensive package of
works are essential so trade continuity can be
achieved.

The Contract will commence early Summer 2005.
Written applications from organisations, who may
wish to provide the service should be addressed
to Procurement Services, PO Box 107, Station
Road, Killingworth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne NE12 0WG
(for the attention of Mr K. Bulmer) to arrive no
later than noon on 11th April 2005.
Applicants will be required to complete a
questionnaire to enable the Council to ascertain
the organisation's financial and economic
standing as well as their technical knowledge and
ability.
No previous application or expression of interest
shall be taken as an application for the purpose
of this notice.
