United House wins £65m housing upgrade with London Borough of Barnet

Social housing contractor United House has formed a strategic partnership with Barnet Homes, the London Borough of Barnet's arms length management organisation, to undertake a £65m-plus refurbishment of more than 6,000 properties over the next six years.

The firm will refurbish street properties and flats in Barnet and Finchley, including the replacement of windows, roofs, bathrooms and kitchens, to bring all the homes up to the government's Decent Homes Plus Standard by 2010. The work will be carried out under the PPC 2000 contract.

United House's managing director Jeff Adams said: "The formation of this strategic partnership is the result of a lengthy process where we were committed fully to working with residents throughout bidding and selection stages."

Barnet Homes is the fourth ALMO to select United House as a strategic partner. The contractor is already working in partnership with CityWest, Hillingdon and Houslow ALMOs.
