Scaffolding MD clears confusion
Climax Scaffolding managing director Phil King has moved to clear
industry confusion following Kings Scaffolding's £75,000 fine
for a scaffolding collapse in 2002.
From 1979 to 2001, King was managing director of Kings and was
responsible for quality assurance and compliance with CDM
regulations. He resigned from Kings in 2001 to set up Climax
Scaffolding, which now operates nationwide.
King told CJ: "We have an exemplary record with the Health &
Safety Executive. In fact I sit on a local committee responsible
for drawing up the protocol for the erection and dismantling of
scaffolding in city centres. We are in the process of obtaining a
patent on a unique fall arrest system."
Kings Scaffolding was fined at Liverpool Crown Court a fortnight
ago (CJ 16 February) for a collapse in 2002 that injured three men.
King said: "Neither Climax nor myself were involved in this case."
