Chunnel extension protestors bailed
Four men accused of disrupting construction work at the Channel Tunnel Rail Link building at site at Kings Cross St Pancras last November have been remanded on unconditional bail until 27 June.
The accused: Giuiseppe Giradi, 39, of Finsbury Park, north London; Paul Robinson, 36, and Alessio Lunghi, 28, of Camden Town, north west London; and Jeffrey Parks, 27, of Rye, Sussex, had pleaded not guilty to aggravated trespass on the site on 22 November 2004.
The renegade protestors had hijacked two tower cranes on Laing O’Rourke’s £311m Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) Contract 105 in the early hours of the morning after scaling security fences. They then hung posters, which read “Workers’ solidarity”.
The four had previously been on police bail banning them from any Chunnel Link or Laing construction or development sites.
The protestors were among 130 workers on the site who had expressed their concerns over O'Rourke's new working agreement.
