Birse bags £28m A14 Suffolk roads scheme
Birse has held off its only remaining rival to emerge triumphant
from the battle for a £28m Highways Agency deal in
Suffolk.
Sources say that the contractor has prevailed over local contractor
Jackson for the A14 Haughley New Street to Stowmarket
improvement.
Provided the statutory procedures go according to plan on the early
contractor involvement scheme, work on site is expected to kick off
in summer 2007. The construction period is expected to last for two
years.
The scheme involves 4km of dual carriageway upgrading, plus a grade
separated interchange and linking side roads.
May Gurney, Morrison and Costain also pitched for the deal.
