Amey has signed a £22m facilities management schools contract with Northamptonshire County Council.
Under the terms of the three plus two year contract, 340 staff have transferred to Amey and will help the company deliver a comprehensive suite of facilities management services to 41 schools, five secondary and 36 primary.
The work involves security, janitorial services, energy and utilities management, grounds maintenance, waste management, fire and emergency management, catering, cleaning and reactive building and fabric maintenance.
The award of this contract marks a significant milestone towards the successful closure of the Northamptonshire Schools PFI Project, in which Amey is a member of the preferred bidder consortium alongside its partner, Babcock and Brown.
Mel Ewell, chief executive of Amey, said: “The award of this contract further strengthens Amey’s impressive track record of providing support services in education, and follows the excellent news of our recent contract signing with Renfrewshire Council for their £135m schools PPP contract.”
