Kier to carry out £34m residential scheme

Kier Partnership Homes (KPH), the affordable housing arm of the Kier Group, has been selected as the partner for a £34m residential regeneration scheme covering more than 320 new dwellings.

Maidstone Housing Trust has chosen the West Malling-based company to replace out-dated accommodation on the Parkwood and Coombe Farm Estates with modern apartments and housing.

Under the partnering agreement, KPH will construct 165 new homes at Parkwood and 163 at Coombe Farm. Each development will comprise over 100 houses ranging from two to four bedrooms, plus one and two-bedroom flats.

The first phase at nearby Coombe Farm is likely to begin in October next year, when ageing terraced housing will be swept away to make way for a mix of houses and apartments built to modern standards.

The redevelopment of Parkwood is expected to be completed by summer 2010, and Coombe Farm a year later. As well as rented accommodation, each redevelopment will include around 50 homes for sale and shared ownership.
