Equipment manufacturers rewarded for enterprise


A number of construction equipment manufacturers have been awarded in this year’s Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.  

Among the seven construction related winners were four equipment manufacturers: JCB; Terex Pegson; Extec, and TPA Trax Portable Access.

JCB’s Backhoe Loader Business Unit, received an award in the International Trade category for its success in exporting backhoe loaders around the world.

Sir Anthony Bamford, JCB chairman, said: “The backhoe concept may have been invented by my father 50-years ago, but its global success continues unabated.”

Another award winner in the international trade category was Extec Screens and Crushers. The Derbyshire-based company was awarded for its efforts and success in developing overseas markets for its range of mobile crushing equipment.

In the same category, Terex Pegson, a manufacturer of crushing plants used predominantly in the quarrying industry, received its second enterprise award. The company said it has increased its overseas earnings by some 85% during the last three years. 

TPA Trax Portable Access was honoured in the innovation category for its steerable Traxpanel, which allows its portable roadway to curve by up to 30°.

Other construction winners included Powershield Doors, Screwfast Foundations and Rotary International.
