Steel framework manufacturer forced to close

A steel framework manufacturer is closing down with the loss of 100 jobs.

Administrators failed to find a buyer for Spenmac Holdings and its two trading companies, County Cladding and Carnaby Structures.

The Bridlington business, formed 17 years ago, provides steel frameworks for use in the construction of factory buildings.

Cashflow problems at Spenmac forced the appointment of corporate advisory and restructuring group Kroll as administrators.

A spokesman at Kroll's offices in Leeds confirmed that all 100 employees had been laid off and the company had ceased trading despite efforts to sell the business as a going concern.
