CEA in talks with DTI after MG Rover collapses
The Construction Equipment Association (CEA) is in contact with the
Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) because of the potential
fallout to the construction plant industry from the demise of MG
Rover.
CEA chief executive Rob Oliver said the plant industry shares much
of the same supply chain as the automotive sector.
"We are sensitive to the fact that there may be some detrimental
effect to our members," he said.
"Hopefully, most suppliers will have diversified enough to have
survived," Oliver said.
The CEA has met the Automotive Unit at the DTI and has sent out a
request to all of its members, asking for feedback on the
situation.
In a separate development, Phoenix Distribution, the UK distributor
for the Indian-built Tata range of pick-ups and 4x4s and part of
the MG Rover family, has gone in to receivership.
