Mowlem to build parallel route to ease traffic congestion

Dudley Council has appointed contractor Mowlem to build Brierley Hill’s new parallel route.

The £17m scheme aims to tackle traffic congestion in and around Brierley Hill in Dudley and create -new development opportunities by unlocking the potential of the land between the High Street and the canal.

Work on a series of design and technical issues are currently being undertaken. These include issuing compulsory purchase orders, finalising design of the High Street improvements, finalising the detailed planning application and writing the economic appraisal submission. 

Subject to final government approval construction work is expected to start late June/early July 2006.
