LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL
BUILDING SCHOOLS FOR THE FUTURE
"Building Schools for the Future"(BSF) is a major
new initiative from the UK Government which
proposes to renew or refurbish every secondary
school in England and Wales over the next 10 to
15 years
Leicester City Council on behalf of itself and
others are seeking an innovative private sector
partner or partners to participate and invest in
a new Public Private Partnership vehicle (a
"Local Education Partnership" or "LEP") to be
established jointly with some or all of the
contracting authorities.
The LEP will provide (or arrange for the
provision of) "Partnering Services" to include
but not be limited to the development of a
strategic investment programme for:
a) educational facilities
b) other learning, physical training and
development facilities and associated community
facilities as can conveniently be procured in
association with the particular schools
(further details of the services required are set out in the contract notice.)
The estimated capital value of the new build,
extension and refurbishment for the Phase 1
projects is in the region of £63million plus ICT
capital expenditure of £6.4 million. It is
expected that within the contracting authorities'
programme there will be 3 further phases of
varying value within a total programme value of
£236m.
