Six firms battle for Greenwich BSF pathfinder

Six consortia are in the race for the £245m Greenwich Building Schools for the Future (BSF) pathfinder scheme.

The six are vying to become the strategic partner organisation (SPO) on the scheme, which is test driving a not-for-profit model.

The longlist is:
 * 21st Century Education – a consortium including Mott McDonald and Mill Group.
 * Axiom Education – a consor-tium including ABM Amro and Bryanston Square.
 * Babcock and Brown Education Partnership.
 * Meridian Education Partnership – a consortium including EC Harris and NIBC.
 * South and East London Education & Community Trust.
 * Vosper Thornycroft (VT) Edu-cation and Skills.

The strategic partner is expected to bring elements of social enterprise and a distribution of profit, for the benefit of the community, into the partnership.

The longlisted bidders will now be invited to submit outline proposals. A preferred bidder is expected to be chosen by February 2006 and contracts signed within four months.
