Final three announced for Project MoDEL


Three consortia have moved to the next stage of the Defence Estates' procurement competition for Project MoDEL (MOD Estate in London).

Defence Estates, the Executive Agency of MOD, will now issue them with an Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) following the competion of a detailed evaluation of their outline proposals submitted last February.

The three companies/consortia are:

* Land Securities Trillium
* Amec
* Vinci/St Modwen

Project MoDEL is a key project in delivering MOD's strategic aim of developing estate within  Greater London that has sufficeint size and quality to support the long-term military and operational requirements of its customers.

The aim is to consolidate the facilities occupied by MoD and, potentially, the United States Visiting Forces onto fit-for-purpose sites thereby generating a number of benefits in terms of reducing running costs, improving efficiency and consolidating resources.

The winning candidate will work with the MoDEL Project Team to fund and project manage the delivery of the construction requirements, primarily at RAF Northolt, relocation of units to the designated site, and the disposal of sites rendered surplus through the consolidation activity.

The contract is expected to be awarded in July 2006
