BRENT COUNCIL
BRIDGE STRENGTHENING AND ASSOCIATED WORKS
Brent Council wishes to invite expressions of
interest from suitably experienced contractors
for the construction of works to strengthen a
multi-span bridge over both Network Rail and
London Underground lines, to construct a new taxi
facility, install new stairways, and to install
new bus priority measures.
The works will be at Bridge Road, near Wembley
Park Station, and will be phased around the
opening of the new National Stadium at Wembley.
This station is the main public transport access
to the 90,000 seat stadium and it is essential
that these works do not interfere with the use of
the station on event days. The start on site will
be in October with specified works due for
completion before the full opening of the stadium
on May 13th, 2006. The remainder of the works
will be completed subsequent to this date. No
work will take place on the day of the opening
and all works which have been started are to have
been completed. There will also be days leading
up to the opening when the site is to be made
safe and no work will be allowed.
The successful contractor will have extensive
experience of liaising with railway companies and
statutory undertakers, working adjacent and over
railway lines, working with foamed concrete, and
in a busy urban environment. The duration of the
works will be approximately 40 weeks with an
indicative value in the range £1-£2 million.
To express an interest and request a
pre-qualification application pack, please

Paul.Williams@brent.gov.ukClosing date for the receipt of the completed
questionnaire is Wednesday, June 15th, 2005.
