Emcor Drake & Scull wins £4.6m m&e contract

Emcor Drake & Scull (ED&S) has been awarded a £4.6m contract to provide mechanical, electrical and public heath services within new staff and student accommodation at the University of Surrey. 

The contract will include the design and build of four individual blocks within a complex comprising nearly 700 student rooms in self-contained houses with common rooms and reception areas.

The new complex, which is being built on a Green Field site, forming part of the University's New Manor Park Campus, will also feature a reception office and staff accommodation.

The M&E services to be provided by ED&S includes: modifying incoming gas supply; air conditioning; cooling and heating distribution; thermal insulation; water treatment; upgrading incoming electrical supplies; power, lighting and emergency installation; intercom/access control systems; telephone and data systems and security.

ED&S will operate in conjunction with the project’s main contractor, Leadbitter Construction, and completion is anticipated in August 2006.
