Mott MacDonald’s Indian company, Dalal Mott MacDonald, has won a £9m contract for the detailed design of the Mandi House metro station.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation awarded the contract, as part of Line 3 of the new Delhi Metro.
The project involves a single-level underground station, which is 27m wide, and increases to 57m in its middle. The station will be built from the top down to minimise disruption to traffic. The diaphragm wall panels will be built from ground level, and will form the permanent walls of the station.
DMM will develop the detail design for all the station’s structural and architectural elements. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will look after the station’s mechanical and electrical design. Construction is due for completion in May 2006.
