One thousand inspectors with the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are set to blitz the industry in the first of two intensive construction inspection campaigns.
In line with the HSA's Programme of Work, inspectors will be concentrating on the following key issues: the Health and Safety Plan; safety statement; notification/appointment of duty holders; welfare; site-traffic and plant; work at height; housing constructruction and renovation.
The HSA, the national body for Ireland, intends placing additional resources into geographical areas, which have shown high rates of fatalities over the past number of years.
The North West, for example, will have three additional construction inspectors operating for the duration of the campaign while additional inspection resources will also be drafted to other regions as appropriate.
The first campaign is scheduled to kick off on 13 June and last until 24 June.
