TCP cuts production and jobs
Corus this week said it will chop 75 staff from its workforce of
1,700 at Teesside Cast Products (TCP).
The cuts come as confirmation that the firm is reducing capacity of
bloom products, which are used to make rail and construction
materials.
A Corus spokeswoman told CJ the cuts form part of a strategy to
move production to the firm's Scunthorpe site. A consortium of
overseas firms stepped in to secure production at TCP earlier this
year, with a 10-year deal to supply cast products to their own
markets.
Corus will withdraw production at TCP for its own, mainly UK,
markets by the end of the year.
