Amicus to appoint secretary despite union rules change
Amicus has said it intends to appoint a successor to Paul Corby as
national secretary for construction, despite a recent change to the
union rules, which reintroduces the election of officials.
Derek Simpson, Amicus general secretary, anticipated that an
appointment will be confirmed by the end of July. He said the post
would not be subject to election, as Corby's departure had been
agreed before the rule change. Clear favourite for the post is
acting national officer Tom Hardacre.
Corby, 54, has taken a voluntary redundancy package after suffering
from ill health.
