Two more die as fatalities rise to 14
Two more people have died in the construction industry – taking the total since 1 April 2005 to 14.
On 28 June a 60-year-old man had his life support system switched off six days after an accident at Charter Primary School, in Coventry.
The man suffered neck injuries after he became trapped between a mobile elevated work platform and the edge of a gully of a roof he was working on.
And on 8 June a 31-year-old man was killed on the A41 junction 4 of the M1 in Barnet. The highway maintenance worker with Carillion died after being struck by a car having rescued a dog.
The Health & Safety Executive has only just received details of the incident which had originally been classed as a road traffic accident.
At the same stage last year, 11 people had been killed in the construction industry.
