Jackson Construction is the preferred contractor on a £7m project to build a new community leisure centre in Suffolk for Forest Heath District Council.
The project in Newmarket will see Jackson Construction upgrade and incorporate the existing dry facilities on the Newmarket Upper School site, which currently include a sports hall, gym and squash courts, into a new purpose built public facility.
The new sports centre will boast impressive wet facilities including a 25m main pool and a learner pool, large changing village, spa, sauna and treatment rooms.
The two-storey steel frame building will feature a metal standing seam roof and majority curtain walling to the facade.
The contract will include a large externals package with car parking, hard and soft landscaping and the creation of a floodlit full size all weather pitch.
The project is due to commence in August, with key work to provide access carried out during the summer school holiday period - the project is scheduled for completion in April 2007.
