ACE to provide strategy for 2012 Olympic delivery team

The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) is to set up two special industry groups to provide strategic and technical linkages with the London 2012 Olympic delivery team, the London Development Agency, Transport for London and other stakeholders.

The strategy group will consist of leading figures from consultancy and construction and the finance and legal sectors.

The technical group will be comprised of key consultancies with relevant expertise in delivering major sporting, leisure and Olympic infrastructure projects.

ACE chief executive Nelson Ogunshakin said: “Our decision to set up these groups follows consultation with the industry. The two groups will provide an important interface with the Olympic delivery authorities and government.

"They will look at key areas such as procurement, resource optimisation and planning, sustainability and the appropriate culture and business approach needed to deliver the infrastructure and facilities required to ensure a successful Olympic Games in London in 2012.”

ACE plans to have the two groups up and running by the end of the summer and is also planning a major industry conference to look at the challenges of delivering ‘mega-projects’, including the Olympics.
