Seven fight for £236m Leicester BSF

Seven consortia are at the top of the class for Leicester City’s £236m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme to transform the city’s secondary schools.

The seven bidders are:

  • Aura Learning Communities (Sir Robert McAlpine, Robertson Capital Projects and Parsons Brinckerhoff)
  • Education 21 (Mowlem)
  • Excell Learn (Equion)
  • Inspired Spaces (Carillion)
  • Miller
  • MPB Education (Mouchel Parkman and Babcock) and
  • Vinci

Proposals from all seven will be evaluated in September with a shortlist of three chosen by the end of the year. A preferred bidder will be announced early in 2006.

Work starts in autumn 2006 at four city schools: Beaumont Leys School; Fullhurst Community College; Judgemeadow Com-munity College; and Soar Valley College, which represent phase one of the programme.

The remaining 11 schools will be delivered in a further three phases over the following six years.
