Surrey streetlighting PFI shortlist revealed

Three groups have been shortlisted for Surrey County Council's £65.6m PFI streetlighting deal. Balfour Beatty Power Networks, Vinci Investments and a Skanska-Laing consortium make up the trio.

A total of 17 companies originally expressed an interest, of which eight submitted proposals. The scheme involves the replacement of 74,000 of the county's streetlights.

A preferred bidder is due to be selected in June 2006. Work will take place between 2007 and 2012. The maintenance concession will run for 25 years.
