Vehicle sales pass 200,000
Commercial vehicle registrations have passed 200,000 in the first
six months of the year - an increase of 3% over 2004.
Heavy trucks are the biggest winners - up 7% year to date at 29,464
sales. June produced more than 5,600 registrations for this sector
- an increase of 16.7%.
The mixed fortunes of vans continues with the sub-1.8t sector
falling 2.7% to 84,198 over the rolling year. Meanwhile, the
middleweight sector (1.8t to 2.6t) has grown 7.1% to stand at
29,640 -although June registrations were down by 16.4%.
Vans in the 2.6t to 3.5t sector grew by 6.1% in June, boosting the
rolling year total by 9% to 198,726.
Registrations of rigid trucks over 3.5t were up 23% in June (at
3,971) and articulated truck sales show a rolling year increase of
3.5% at 19,382.
