Kier Eastern top of class with schools contract wins

A Kier Eastern consortium has been named as preferred bidder for the £75m Norwich Area Schools PFI project.

Kier Eastern’s Norwich office is preparing for a major package of education work for Norfolk County Council, as part of Academy Services, a partnership between Kier Group and Dexia Public Finance Bank.

The consortium will provide five new primary schools, as well as extend and refurbish a high school, under a 25-year private finance initiative.

Kier Eastern will be working as contractor alongside sister companies Kier Project Investment and facilities management specialist Caxton.

As part of Academy Services, Kier Eastern is already building two schools in another PFI scheme for the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

Kier Eastern’s Wisbech office has been awarded more school work in Cambridgeshire.

Having just completed the first phase of a new primary school for the fast-growing village of Cambourne, the regional contractor has won £2.3m of follow-on work for the second phase, starting later this month.
