ECA and IIE join forces to promote professional development

The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) are to work together to promote professional engineering standards within the electrical contracting industry. 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed - the first by the IIE and a trade association.

The ECA and the IIE will work in partnership, through joint initiatives, to provide craftsmen, technicians and engineers with wider opportunities for professional recognition and registration and further encourage greater professional development by addressing education, training and skills issues.

As part of the drive for improved standards among engineering craftsmen, the IIE has also launched a Register of Engineering Craftsmen. Inclusion on the register will demonstrate a craftsman’s proven knowledge and competence and will provide the first step on the ladder for anyone aspiring to professional careers within the industry.
