CONSTRUCTION OF FOYER BUILDING TO COLSTON HALL, BRISTOL - PHASE 1

Expressions of interest are invited from suitably
qualified and experienced contractors for the
construction of a new foyer building attached to
the existing Colston Hall.
The aim of the Colston Hall redevelopment project
is to create a centre of excellence for all types
of music for the broadest cross section of users.
Phase 1 will comprise the demolition of existing
buildings adjacent to Colston Hall and the
construction of a new foyer and services building
on the site to be joined to the hall. The new
building will contain revenue generating spaces

including a box-office, offices, retail outlet,
two cafe/bars and a destination restaurant. There
will also be some remodelling of elements of the
existing Grade-Listed II Victorian front of house
building.
The subsequent 2 Phases will, (depending on
budget), comprise the remodelling and
refurbishment of the main auditorium, the
completion of remodelling works to the existing
front of house building including a second hall,
and the provision of a new back of house building
and other revenue generating accommodation.
Phase 1 has an approximate construction value of
£17.5m. The construction values of Phases 2 and 3
are estimated to be £22m and £19m respectively.
The funding for Phases 2 and 3 is still
unsecured, and subject to timescale and contract,
it is anticipated that the original partnering
contractor will complete these works.
The contract will be let on the basis of the NEC
2000 suite of contracts and tenders will be
sought during October/November 2005 from those
contractors included on a select list.  Any
contractor wishing to be considered for the
select list should apply either electronically or
in writing for a pre-qualification questionnaire
to the Project Manager at the address indicated
below.
Expressions of interest must be received at
Colston House, Bristol, no later than 30th
September, 2005. If further information is
required, please contact Mike Davis, Project
Manager on (0117) 922 3249, or fax (0117) 922 3378
