Mowlem/Capita wins £500m Cardiff transport deal

A joint venture between Mowlem and Capita Symonds has hit the road for a £500m transport scheme centring on Cardiff.

The firms have seen off three rivals to surface as preferred bidder for the project, known as the Cardiff Transportation Partnership.

Over the next six months, the city council and its chosen partners will work together to produce a feasibility study, which is likely to concentrate on the construction of a network of roads.

The aim is to improve and modernise the city’s infrastructure to support economic growth, and help promote Cardiff’ role in major sporting events such as the 2010 Ryder Cup and 2012 Olympic Games, as well as football and rugby finals.

Also in the hunt for the scheme were Morrison, Babtie and the MacQuarie Bank
