New owners make service levels a priority at Gamble

The Gamble family has sold a controlling interest in the group to investment capitalists for an undisclosed sum. Peter Gamble has become chairman of the group and the new owners have appointed Paul Stanforth as group managing director and Mike Davies as chief financial officer.

Business development manager Jeremy Gamble said: "The management team is concentrating on improving service levels and expanding the range of services offered by the group."

Immediate actions have included closing one depot in Uckfield and reducing the headcount by 17. "Most of what has happened is positive and these changes would have happened anyway. The new owners are carrying on with a two- to three-year plan the family shareholders had devised."

Trevor Gamble, who sits on the CPCS management committee, remains involved in the business. He wants to move away from the day-to-day running of the business. He will continue his work for the CPCS, CITB, the Construction Plant-hire Association and Rail Plant Association.
