Anglian rethinks on plastic pipes
Anglian Water is talking to plastic pipe makers after a 10-year battle over materials took a step closer to being resolved last week.
Thames Water Utilities and Southern Water lifted a 10-year ban on plastic sewer pipes with a jetting force of more than 4,000psi, leaving Anglian as the only company with the ban still in place.
The water firms wrote to manufacturer Uponor to accept Ultra Fortis, which it launched earlier this year (CJ 6 April).
An Uponor spokeswoman told CJ the company developed the pipe to compete with clay on new builds in the South East region.
Thames has agreements with pipe makers Stanton Bona Concrete and Hepworth Clay.
