Capita Symonds wins £30m Dubai rail contract

Capita Symonds has sealed a £30m, four-year contract to provide design and engineering services on the new £1.86bn Dubai rail system.

Capita will be working with the Dubai Rapid Link consortium made up of jv company JT Metro (Obayashi/Kajima) and Turkish firm Yapi Merkezi to provide civil, structural and M&E design for the new 69.7km metro system.

Work on the four-year contract has already started and when completed the rail link will provide two lines crossing Dubai, travelling through a bored tunnel beneath the central business district and on elevated viaducts through other parts of the city.
