Skills card chief to be appointed next month

The Construction Skills Certifica-tion Scheme (CSCS) is aiming to name its new 75,000-a-year chief executive next month so that he/she can take up the post at the beginning of next year.

"There has been a fair bit of interest in the post and we are receiving a flow of applications," said CSCS chairman George Brumwell. "We are still talking to the CITB about the financial arrangements, but are looking to see the chief executive and fin-ances in place by January 2006."

The CSCS management board says it is seeking "a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join the organisation at an exciting phase in its development".

It is also casting its recruiting net widely: "Some knowledge of the industry, its supply chain relationships and its recruitment and training methods would also be an advantage."

The salary is up to 75,000-a-year, plus benefits. The post will be based at the B&CE benefits company at Crawley, West Sussex.
