Three Peaks Challenge 2006

Humanitarian organisation CARE International, event sponsor Construction Industry Solutions (COINS) and media partner Contract Journal are pleased to announce the fourth COINS Three Peaks Challenge, which will take place on the weekend of 6-7 May 2006.

Once again, corporate teams from the construction industry are being asked to take on the challenge of not only climbing the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours, but also raising at least 5,000 for CARE International's overseas work.

But you need to book fast, as there are only a limited number of places available!
The event has gone from strength to strength. Last year a record-breaking 38 teams took part and raised 251,500, making it the most successful event in the history of CARE's Three Peaks Challenge series. It is anticipated that next year's event will exceed the fundraising achieved in 2005.

The event begins in Scotland with the 1,334m ascent of Ben Nevis, followed by climbing the 978m-high Scafell Pike in the Lake District. The final challenge is the 1,085m ascent of Snowdon, making a total distance of 41km.

This is a physically demanding and rewarding team-building event, so proper preparation and training is essential. For safety reasons we ask teams to have a minimum of four/maximum of five walkers to start each mountain, plus drivers. They will be supported every step of the way with a full fitness and training plan, together with tips and advice on fundraising in the run-up to the event.

Larry Sullivan, chairman of COINS, commented: "It just gets better and better, with a record amount of money raised for CARE International, and a record number of teams participating from the construction industry. We urge companies to get involved in next year's event."

Mike Bartlett, head of Challenge Events at CARE, added: "We look forward to working with COINS again in 2006 and building on previous success. COINS' generosity in funding this event will help CARE International continue its much needed work around the world, including: rebuilding the communities devastated by the South-East Asia tsunami; longer-term initiatives such as micro-credit schemes in countries including India and Afghanistan; and the rehabilitation of roads in Sierra Leone."
