Atkins has been selected by Gloucestershire County Council as its preferred bidder for the provision of highways and transportation services across the county.
The integrated contract, which is potentially worth in excess of £30m per annum and up to
10 years in duration, will deliver highway maintenance, construction, design, emergency response, winter service, re-surfacing and recycling.
This potentially extends Atkins’ current portfolio of integrated local authority transport contacts, which help to improve efficiency by reducing duplication. Atkins already operates two of the three existing integrated local authority transport contracts in Somerset and Northamptonshire.
Atkins was selected on quality and price following a detailed procurement process involving four bidders.
The contract is due to be awarded in December 2005 with work commencing work in April 2006.
