Change in culture pays dividends at RG Spiller

RG Spiller, the Chard-based contractor, has seen turnover jump to around 17m, almost double the amount for the previous year, as a result of a culture change away from lowest price bidding, to value tendering and partnership agreements.

Pre-tax profit in the 12 months to December 2004 was 25% higher at 850,000.

Managing director Andrew Howard said turnover would continue to grow as a result of a greater volume of repeat business and a move to larger projects.

He sees the Olympics in 2012 as a further springboard for expansion.

"Areas such as Weymouth will see a massive investment over the next few years," he said.

"We are already carrying out a 1.8m restoration project at Nothe Fort in Weymouth, which, as a prime viewing spot for the sailing events, stands to gain massively in 2012."
